4 Keys to Social Media Marketing Success

4 Keys to Social Media Marketing Success

At this point in time, we should no longer have to try to convince you to be on social media or have your business on social media. The pandemic showed us just how connected social media was able to make us by being able to communicate and share with family and friends. We also saw the meteoric rise of TikTok and how it became the fastest growing social media platform in the past twenty years.

If you’re reading this it’s either because your business is currently on social media or about to get going. Here at 7efex, we believe that knowledge is power and we want to equip you with as much knowledge as possible in your social media and digital marketing efforts and journey.

Here are 4 keys to social media marketing success.

1. Embrace Platforms that Make Sense

One of the biggest mistakes you can make starting off on social media is believing that you have to be on EVERY SINGLE platform. Some marketers might disagree with us on this, but we don’t believe you have to be on every single one. We believe in niching down to the few that make sense for YOUR business and where YOUR audience is.

You could go ahead and reserve your social media name and handle on all the platforms if you’d like. But, when it comes down to content creation, marketing efforts, and advertising efforts, we suggest focusing on the ones where your ideal audience is.

Are you an insurance agency? Then we’d recommend you be on Facebook, Instagram, and maybe LinkedIn and not focus on platforms such as Pinterest or Snapchat for example.

Are you a bakery? Then, yes, we’d recommend you be on Pinterest, Snapchat,

Instagram, TikTok, and advertise using Meta for both Facebook and Instagram.

2. Know Your Audience

Key #1 works if you really understand Key #2 which is knowing your audience. Once you know your audience, you’ll be able to make the educated decision of which social media platform you should be on.

So, first, ask yourself a few questions about your demographic. How old are they? Where do they live? What are their likes? Are they mainly men or women? Are they single? Are they married? Do they have kids? And the list goes on.

Once you’ve defined your ideal audience, you’ll be able to choose your platforms.

Are you trying to reach ages 35 and above? Maybe focus on Facebook primarily and also Instagram? Are you trying to reach ages 18-25? Maybe focus more on TikTok and Instagram.

Knowing your audience and understanding the platforms will help you make the right choice of where your business should be.

3. Advertise

Many companies want to grow their social presence organically, and that’s ok for a long-term game, but we also recommend getting into the advertising game when it comes to social media. And by advertising, yes, we do mean the paid Sponsored ads that you see on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, and more.

Why? Because it helps you reach people outside of your followers, and this is very important. The whole idea of doing business is to grow your business to be as successful as you want it to be. How do we do this? By bringing in customers or clients. Correct? And how do we bring people into our business? By getting more eyeballs on our business, and advertising is the best way to do so.

Meta/Facebook is by far still the best social media platform to advertise on since it could advertise on both Facebook and Instagram at the same time, with both of those social platforms still being the biggest two as of today. TikTok is catching up, so keep an eye out for it. 92% of Marketers consider Facebook to be their preferred advertising platform as of today.

4. Be All In

A challenge that we still have with some business owners today is that they’re not completely in. Their lack of enthusiasm for wanting to create or send content to post hinders their social media marketing efforts. You have to be all in. And yes, sometimes that means getting out of your comfort zone. But we believe that you have to be able to get out of your comfort zone, especially if you’re a business owner.

If you’re a business owner or entrepreneur, you are already taking on a lot of risks such as rent, utilities, payroll, taxes, etc. So, you are already kind of outside the normal comfort zones of a typical employee who clocks in at 9 am and clocks out by 5 pm. You are not the average. Because of this, you don’t put in the average effort, and being able to be in front of the camera, typing out a blog, taking photos, and sending content, should be part of your every week business routine.

We understand. You didn’t have to do this 15 years ago. But, things are changing. We are no longer at the beginning of the social media era. We are more than twenty years in. The boat is leaving the dock. It left, came back, and is going back around. Be all in, my friend.

In Conclusion…

These are your first 4 keys to social media marketing success. At least the ones we’d like you to start with and consider. A social media marketing plan, much like all other marketing plans, requires a lot of thought, effort, and planning.

If you feel lost, just ask for help! That’s what we’re here for. 🙂

Good luck, and good marketing.
